2nd PoSoCoMeS – MSA Working Group conference (20–23 September 2023, Tallinn University, Tallinn, Estonia)

CfP: Post-Socialist Memory Cultures in Transition

(Submission deadline: 10.02.2023)

Following its highly successful 2020 online conference co-organised with the Institute of Oral History of Moldova, PoSoCoMeS is preparing to hold another large conference in 2023. The conference will be hosted by Tallinn University in Estonia on 20-23 September 2023, and will be organised jointly with the teams of the research projects “Translating Memories: The Eastern European Past in the Global Arena” at Tallinn University, led by Eneken Laanes, and “Practices and Challenges of Mnemonic Pluralism in Baltic History Museums” at the University of Tartu, led by Ene Kõresaar.

We aim to explore change in post-socialist memory cultures, with a particular focus on Eastern, Central and Southeastern European memory cultures that emerged/are emerging from the tensions and interactions between the transnational, the regional, the national, and the local and are further exasperated by the Russian destructive military invasion of Ukraine.

Please find the CfP and further information here.

We welcome paper proposals as well as proposals of full panels and roundtables. Please send your abstracts by 10 February 2023 to posocomesconference@tlu.ee.

Please note that the conference is organized as an on-site event.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with Eneken Laanes (elaanes@tlu.ee).
